BACKSTORY

\n

Our job description opens in a forgotten time on a misty mountain, where a master of the martial arts and a peanut snack first come together.

\n

WA-CHAA! had humble beginnings as the world’s greatest snack, and is looking to build on that legacy. Originally founded in China under the honored name of the kung fu master Huang Fei Hong, the brand conquered Asia and beyond. Now it has come to new shores. With new shores comes a new name that still honors the original kung fu heritage: WA-CHAA! The kung fu cult-classic.

\n

Our peanuts are made with the treasured peanuts of Shandong, famous Sichuan numbing peppercorns, toasted chili flakes, avocado oil, and honor. They are clean label, contain no MSG, and pack 10g of protein per serving. They have been praised by Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, and New York Magazine, and are carried nationwide at Sprouts, with Central Market, Haggen, and The Fresh Market joining the ranks.

\n

Much like classic kung fu films, we are driven by a mandate to create kickass entertainment and product while performing with excellence in everything we do.

\n

Do you have what it takes? Only time will tell. And it will tell: yes.

\n

\n

THE ROLE

\n

This is not just a demo role, it is a role that demands sales excellence. We are not looking for someone to stand quietly behind a table and hand out samples. That is not kung fu. We are seeking someone who can command the grocery aisle: can stop a shopper mid-stride, put WA-CHAA! in their mouth, and send them home with it in their cart. Every demo is a battle for excellence. Every bag sold is a victory.

\n

Success is measured by conversions, not samples handed out. Our standard is that at least 35% of shoppers who sample become purchasers.

\n

\n

RESPONSIBILITIES

\n

In-Store Demos

\n
    \n
  • Be the face of WA-CHAA! in the store. Run in-store demos at key retailers from setup to breakdown.
  • \n
  • Transport your demo kit, arrive early, check in with store management, and set up an eye-catching display.
  • \n
  • Keep your demo station clean, stocked, on brand, and worthy of the legend.
  • \n
  • Wear the WA-CHAA! Crew uniform with honor: stylish branded shirt and hat, provided.
  • \n
\n

Selling

\n
    \n
  • A sample is the first step, not the victory. Convert at least 35% of samplers into purchasers.
  • \n
  • Start conversations, share the WA-CHAA! story with energy and humor, and turn a “maybe” into a “yes.”
  • \n
  • Help shoppers find their heat level and their perfect pairing across our flavors: Sichuan Original Heat, Sichuan Double Heat, Salt & Sichuan Peppercorn, and Sichuan BBQ.
  • \n
  • Guide shoppers from the demo table to the shelf and into the cart.
  • \n
  • Check the shelf and backstock, and report out-of-stocks or display issues so no shopper ever leaves empty-handed.
  • \n
\n

Product Knowledge

\n
    \n
  • Know every product inside and out: flavors, heat levels, ingredients, nutrition, pack sizes, and where it’s sold.
  • \n
  • Know the legend: Huang Fei Hong heritage, Shandong peanuts, Sichuan peppercorns, clean label, no MSG, 10g protein.
  • \n
  • Stay sharp on new flavors, retailers, promotions, and campaigns.
  • \n
\n

Allergens & Food Safety

\n
    \n
  • Follow our allergen protocol. All of our snacks contain peanuts, and some contain sesame. Tell every shopper what’s in each product before they sample, and keep samples separate. Honor protects everyone.
  • \n
  • Follow safe sampling practices (gloves, portioning, sanitary handling) and each retailer’s demo policies.
  • \n
\n

Same-Day Recaps

\n
    \n
  • After every demo, submit a same-day recap: number of samplers, units sold, conversion rate, photos of your setup and the shelf, and what shoppers said.
  • \n
  • The masters learn from every battle. Your recaps are how we get stronger. If thorough reporting is not your path, this role is not your path.
  • \n
\n

\n

HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED

\n
    \n
  • Conversion rate: at least 35% of samplers become purchasers.
  • \n
  • Units sold per demo.
  • \n
  • Same-day recaps that are complete, accurate, and on time.
  • \n
  • Reliability: showing up on time, prepared, and ready to perform every shift.
  • \n
\n

\n

SCHEDULE

\n
    \n
  • Flexible scheduling.
  • \n
  • Minimum 30 hours per week.
  • \n
  • Minimum two weekends per month.
  • \n
  • Demo shifts run 6–8 hours. Double demos (two demos in one day) are standard.
  • \n
\n

\n

MUST-HAVES

\n
    \n
  • You are outgoing and comfortable talking to strangers all day. Silence is your enemy.
  • \n
  • You can turn a “maybe” into a “yes,” and a “yes” into “I’ll take two.”
  • \n
  • You are reliable and punctual, and you can work alone. A true master needs no one watching.
  • \n
  • A reliable car and a valid driver’s license.
  • \n
  • Able to stand for 6–8 hours and lift up to 25 lbs. This is what you've trained for.
  • \n
  • A valid California Food Handler Card or Washington Food Worker Card, or the ability to get one shortly after hire.
  • \n
  • A smartphone for photos, recaps, and scheduling.
  • \n
  • A love for flavor, excitement, and honorable peanuts.
  • \n
\n

\n

NICE-TO-HAVES

\n
    \n
  • Experience with in-store demos, sampling, retail sales, or hospitality.
  • \n
  • A track record of hitting sales or conversion goals.
  • \n
  • Familiarity with Sichuan food, or a deep curiosity about it.
  • \n
  • Love of kung fu cinema, or the eagerness to be initiated into it.
  • \n
\n

\n

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

\n
    \n
  • $25–$30/hour, based on experience.
  • \n
  • Mileage reimbursement.
  • \n
  • Training from the masters.
  • \n
  • WA-CHAA! uniform (shirt and hat) and free WA-CHAA! product.
  • \n
  • A front-row seat to the U.S. rise of a cult-classic snack.
  • \n
  • Your work will not be boring.
  • \n
  • Great honor.
  • \n
\n
